I like to design and create cool things.

I drink coffee, I take many photographs, I create awesomeness and I hold down a nine to five as the director of marketing for a machining company in upstate NY.

This site is a collection of my work, a bit about me and some ramblings about the stuff that I love. I will often update my blog, so check it out and don't be afraid to tell me what you think about my work- the good and/or the bad. =)

I volunteer and donate, you should too.

Please enjoy poking around my site and thank you for stopping by!

You may be asking yourself what my website name is all about and/or wondering how I came up with such a weirdo name. I'm here to put that question to rest.

Let’s start with the Otaku (oh-tah-coo) part.

Loosely translated, Otaku (Japanese in origin) means your house; your home -
It can be associated with one that enjoys anime, computers and playing video games. Although used with pride by many western fans to describe themselves, the term carries a negative connotation in Japan, such as 'Trekkie' does here.

Anime... before you ask, is "the Japanese word for animation and is used by the Japanese to describe all forms of animation. In the west it is used to describe specifically Japanese animation. The correct pronunciation is ‘ah-nee-may’ but the more common western pronunciation is ‘anna-may’.".

Anime can range from the very silly to the very serious, and is not necessarily intended for any specific age group.

I felt that using ‘Otaku’ was appropriate in view of the fact that on any given day you will usually find me; taking mad amounts of photographs with one of many cameras, on the computer reading / designing, painting / drawing / crafting, reading a book (comic/manga or otherwise) playing with my kitten, watching a bit of TV/Anime (check out my library!), playing video games, or doing general things around the house.

I added the ‘Lab’ because, well, I like making things.
Put the two together and, VOILA!  You have, ‘OtakuLab’.
