DEER HAVE ALWAYS FASCINATED ME.
I find them to be beautiful, gentle, and majestic creatures.
They have an amazing ability to move through life’s obstacles with grace.
From deer we can learn the gift of gentleness and caring.
Only love, both for ourselves and for others, helps us understand the true meaning of wholeness.
When artist and dancer Sophia Stoller met Earthfire Institute’s three legged deer Runs-Like-the-Wind (because he does), she had an inspiration. She would try to dance with him. She spent the three weeks of her internship at Earthfire Institute with Runs-Like-the-Wind. They had to learn from each other; trust one another.
No one knew her, the stranger whose tribe we recognized,
her family related to deer, if that’s who she was,
a people accustomed to hearing songs in pine trees, and making them hearts

I’ve always enjoyed the use of the word tribe.
Mine love nature and being near water as much as I do, so it makes them especially lovely to be around.
Here’s to striving to be the best version of ourselves that we can, on a daily basis.
